STARS ARE SHINING AT BALTIMORE SUMMIT FOR ASPIRING RECORDING ARTISTS

Veteran radio executive and gospel announcer Lee Michaels (WCAO Program Director and Pastor) will kick off The East Coast Gospel Music Summit & Showcase – the autumn’s largest east coast gathering to educate and inspire those hoping to break into the music business – this coming week at The Manifest Wonders Christian Center in the Charm City of Baltimore, MD.

There will be panel discussions by record label executives such as April Washington (Habakkuk Music), Troy Sneed (Emtro) and Kerry Douglas (Worldwide Music) who have all enjoyed #1 records with their collective artists such as James Fortune & FIYA, Earnest Pugh and Lisa Page Brooks, among others.  Douglas’ artist currently has the #4 song on this week’s Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart with Zacardi Cortez’ “1 on 1.”  April Washington of Habakkuk Music and Troy Sneed, who is a Top Ten recording artist as well as an executive, of Emtro Gospel, will also participate in panels. Radio announcers Arvetra Jones and Reggie Gay will talk about the impact of radio on an artist’s career.

A plethora of established artists will either perform or discuss the music business. Among them are Chanel, the former lead vocalist of the gold-selling Trin-i-tee 5:7; Baltimore’s own gospel megastars Jason Nelson and Damon Little. Plus, up-and-coming artists such as Hope Askew, Ruth La’Ontra and Jennifer Mekel will participate. Los Angeles based songstress Ami Rushes will make a rare Baltimore area appearance and Brandon Camphor & One Way, a group that’s performed on TBN and other national television, will also step on stage.

One of the hottest young artists in gospel Uncle Reece will perform as will young veteran Bryan Wilson. Seasoned choir conductor Lamar Campbell makes his first local appearance in some years. Some of the education sessions include classes such as “How to Market Your Music Effectively” and “The Role of The Psalmist.” Grand Prize showcase winner will receive a one song recording contract with Manta Ray Records and distribution to up to 400 stores worldwide.
