On the heels of releasing his new single,”Follow Thee,” on Empowered Music Group/Universal Music Group, DMV native James Murphy recently paid it forward by donating his time to raise funds with Praise 104.1 FM in support of St. Jude’s Annual Radiothon.

“I wanted to help raise awareness for these young children and St. Jude’s,” states Murphy.  “I think it’s important that people know about St. Jude’s great support system and how it builds faith in families.  Not only do they help the children with cancer but they help the entire family in their time of need.”

Murphy knows all to well how support and faith can make a difference in someone’s life. The day after Christmas he lost everything in a condo fire.  “Living in a hotel for three months was truly insane but through it all, I kept my FAITH,” says Murphy.  “I continued recording my album, releasing my single and going about my career like nothing happened because my faith assured me that everything would be okay. I lost a lot but never once did my faith waiver.”

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has been actively involved in radiothon fund-raising for more than 30 years. In fact, hundreds of radio stations across the country have helped raise more than $250 million for the life-saving work of St. Jude, and the St. Jude family of partner stations continues to expand.

“Follow Thee,” produced by Kevin “KP” Pridgen and written by Murphy, Kevin Pridgen, and Tre Thomas, is the lead single off his forthcoming album, “So Crazy, No Boundaries,” and was created after many disappointments in Murphy’s life.

As with all his music and selfless acts, Murphy’s goal is to inspire and uplift those in need of a sincere message.
