Eric Brice: A Quick and Effective Way to Create a Guitar Part

A quick and effective way to create a guitar part would be to:

  • Take the chords and break them down in thirds and single notes… wrapping around the melody still as accompaniment as opposed to playing the whole chord.

I realize that we are in an era where there are monster quartet players coming on the scene and most are very influenced by Eddie “SPANKY” Alford (Three time Grammy award-winning guitarist well-known for his playing style and use of arpeggiations. He had a great career as a gospel quartet guitar player from the 1960s – 1980s with various groups such as the Mighty Clouds of Joy).

He was a master at pulling a part out of the chord … Sometimes the big stretched hand chord is over the top… Thanks Spank ! My two pennies… 🙂
