New Gospel Artist, Corey Barksdale was recently surprised when his story and music got the attention of a few artists and media sources outside of his hometown of Chicago, IL.
While preparing for his recent TBN taping, Corey was contacted and interviewed by, Pam Dillon, contributing writer for the Dayton-Ohio Daily News and connected with fellow Gospel Artist, Tonya Baker for an upcoming performance in the Ohio area.
It’s always a great feeling to know that your music has encouraged others outside of your hometown and for Corey, extending his testimony is top priority.
Pam Dillon of The Dayton Daily News was excited to interview Corey Barksdale to discuss musical influences, Gospel music, goals and appearances in Ohio. Here is an excerpt from Corey’s interview: “I’m inspired by all types of artists from all cultures and many different genres,” said Barksdale. “My major goal in life is to spread the message of faith, praise, worship and self-love to all generations throughout the world. I enjoy having the opportunity to sing life-changing songs. Gospel is more of a message than it is a sound; it matters, it has power.”
Gospel Artist and Dayton, OH native, Tonya Baker also expressed her excitement about Corey’s music and connecting with him, “I became familiar with the gift of Corey Barksdale through a mutual friend in music ministry, Jonathan McReynolds,” said Gospel singer Tonya Baker, overseer of worship and arts at Mount Pisgah Church. “His music is beautiful and his sound is refreshing. His gift is undeniable and we believe this would be a great way to introduce his anointed music ministry to this area.”
Yes, the buzz is building around Corey’s music and from this he has been afforded the opportunity to perform on Friday, February 28th, during the Neo Soul Night Concert at the Mount Pisgah Church in Huber Heights, OH, at 7pm, sponsored by the church’s College and Young Professional Ministry.
“Neo Soul Night is a vehicle to display the gifts and talents of our CYP. We feature singers, musicians, spoken word artists and dance/mime ministry performers. All are welcome to attend,” said Tonya Baker.
As stated in the Dayton Daily News, Barksdale will be singing his original music, “You’re Irreplaceable” and “Persona,” among other worship songs.
As the weekend continues, Corey will minister through song and worship with several ministries in Dayton, OH on Sunday, March 2nd and immediately following, travel back to Chicago for a music appearance at the Clubhouse Venue Center in Oak Brook, IL at 7pm.
