A&R 101: Tracy Williamson – “Selecting a Producer”

  • Artists, I have a question – How much do you Value your Producer and/or Production Team?
  • When selecting a Producer, be prepared to communicate your music goals, because it’s hard to create from your uncertainty.
  • A Producer should help create & bring the best out of your music. The best can come forth with open communication.
  • Linking up with a Producer shouldn’t be based on just a “Name”, but their ability to hear you, connect with you & bring forth better.
  • Spend time listening to other music styles with the Producer, broaden your scope of music, so you will know exactly what you want.
  • Treat your Production Relationship like any other, if it doesn’t Fit-DON’T Force it! GREAT Music is what you want, not Mediocre.
  • Lastly, Prayer is ALWAYS in order when choosing a Producer & keep this going throughout the Recording process. I’ve seen firsthand what Prayer can do!
