All-Star Gospel Celebration (ASGC) will kick off NBA All-Star Weekend with an unforgettable commemoration celebrating its 10-year anniversary during the 64th NBA All-Star. Hosted by multi-award winning gospel artist Vicki Winans, the event will tipoff February 13, 2015 at the world famous Apollo Theater from 3:00p.m. – 6:00p.m with red carpet starting at 2:00p.m.
Created by executive producer, Tomeka B. Holyfield, ASGC, whose theme this year is “Faith and Unity,” has been exceptionally successful during NBA All-Star weekend paying tribute to NBA players and coaches, local pastors and high-profile individuals whom effect change in the lives of others while portraying an inspiring and motivating image.
“The current state of the world is deeply saddening,” says Holyfield. “The 10th Annual All-Star Gospel Celebration will celebrate faith and unity in New York City by bringing together unity of diversity, peace and power!”
This year’s “Slam-Dunk” honorees include Los Angeles Clippers Dahntay Jones and wife, Valeisha Butterfield-Jones, Co-Founder of WEEN, Pastor Donnie McClurklin of Perfecting Faith Church, Tracy Mourning, wife of NBA Legend Alonzo Mourning and Founder of Honey Shine Inc., In Memory of Caldwell Jones NBA Legend, NBA Veteran Player, Etan Thomas and wife Nichole Thomas, founder of Virtuous Living, “Cookie Lady” Lauretta Peirce, founder of Covenant Cookies, Bishop Roderick Caesar of Bethel Gospel Tabernacle Fellowship International, and Rev. Michael A. Walrond, Jr. of First Corinthians Baptist Church NYC.
The event will boast the attendance of numerous celebrity-guests featuring performances by chart-topping American Idol® runner- up Danny Gokey, Grammy® nominated and Dove award-winning CCM artist Jamie Grace, multi-award winning artist (11 Grammy® and seven Dove® Awards) Shirley Caesar, Bryan Popin, Angella Christie, Bizzle, Kevin Levar, Micah Stampley, Andrea McClurklin-Mellini and Mr. Talkbox.
Presenters will include NBA Veteran Allan Houston, TV One’s Roland Martin-Smith, NBA Player Chris Taft and wife Dana, NBA Champion Antonio Daniels and wife Sonia and NBA Player Garret Temple to name a few.
In addition to paying honor to select individuals, the event is also a fundraiser where proceeds will benefit The HELPPPPing Hands Foundation and Minnie’s Food Pantry as they raise awareness and funds to assist abused and battered women and children.
